SRU Dance presenting “Freakshow” this weekend
SRU Dance, Salve Regina’s largest student-run organization, will present its fall performance, “Freakshow,” Saturday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 18 in the Rodgers Recreation Center. The performance will include 26 dances in styles of tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, modern, Irish step and African, and a finale number showcasing the entire club.
This semester, SRU Dance features more than 120 performers, who will dance to the music of Sinead O’Connor, Florence and the Machine, Christina Aguilera, Rob Thomas and many more.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission to Saturday’s performance is at least a $1 donation to the Andrea Rizzo Foundation, while admission to Sunday’s performance is $5. At both shows, children young enough to sit on an adult’s lap are admitted free.
A Salve Regina graduate, Andrea Rizzo was tragically killed by a drunk driver at age 24. The foundation established in her name raises money for children’s cancer research through dance therapy programs. SRU Dance continues to support “Drea’s Dream” and help the foundation in any way they can.
