Registrations are now being accepted for Salve Regina’s 16th annual 5K Mansion Run and Walk, a unique event that starts and finishes on the University’s historic Bellevue Avenue/Ochre Point campus.

The event will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 during Fall Festival Weekend. Back for a fifth year is the Kids’ Fun Run, which starts at 8 a.m.

  • Register online

Open to the general public, the U.S.A. Track & Field-sanctioned 3.1-mile course weaves participants in a scenic tour past many Gilded Age mansions. Proceeds from the event will support Friends of Seahawk Athletics, which is comprised of Salve Regina alumni, parents and friends who have a special affinity for the University’s 18 intercollegiate athletic teams and the role that athletics play in the community.

The road race annually attracts several hundred participants from the Salve Regina community and the general public. Prizes include $150 for the first place male and female, $100 for the second place male and female and $50 for the third place male and female.

Registration is $10 for current Salve Regina students and $20 for all others. Team discounts are available at $15 per runner. Registration for the Kids Fun Run is free and all children will receive a prize.

People may register online by visiting www.salve.edu/run. Race-day registration, which is $20 for all registrants (including Salve Regina students and teams), will begin at 7 a.m. in the Rodgers Recreation Center on Salve Regina’s campus.

Free Mansion Run T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 400 paid registrants. Refreshments will be available. For more information, call Matt Boxler at (401) 341-2156 or visit the road race website at www.salve.edu/run.
