18-hour dance marathon benefiting Hasbro Children’s Hospital
Next weekend, Salve Regina students will stand for those who cannot during the first dance marathon in the state of Rhode Island to benefit a Children’s Miracle Network hospital. Scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 to noon Sunday, Feb. 24 in Ochre Court, the dance marathon will benefit Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
Students will remain standing throughout the 18-hour event while dancing, playing games and interacting with families and patients from the hospital. The goal is to raise $15,000. About 100 students are expected to participate in the event along with the nine families representing the hospital.
Named among the top 30 children’s hospitals by Parents magazine, Hasbro has a team of more than 200 physicians and 130 nurses who are experts in more than 40 pediatric specialty areas, including cardiology, orthopedics, oncology and neurology.
Students can register for the dance marathon and start a personal fundraising page at www.helpmakemiracles.org/event/salvedancemarathon. Registration is $10 and students are required to raise at least $40 in pledges to participate.
