Scholarships available for rehabilitation counseling students
Salve Regina is accepting scholarship applications for the master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling. Full and partial scholarships are available for a summer 2013 start.
Provided by the U.S. Department of Education’s Rehabilitation Services Administration, scholarships are available for students who enroll in a 48-credit program leading to a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, or a 60-credit program leading to the master’s degree and a certificate of advanced graduate studies degree in mental health.
It is anticipated that most scholarships will cover all of the tuition for the first year. Scholarships for 2014 and beyond are likely, but contingent on funding from the Department of Education. All scholarship recipients must receive a B average for their courses each semester for the duration of the scholarship.
The U.S. Department of Education has an employment payback requirement for scholarship recipients. For every year of scholarship, students are required to work for two years in an approved nonprofit community rehabilitation program or for the state/federal rehabilitation program.
The application deadline is Monday, March 4. Information sessions will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 and Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the Center for Adult Education, located at 144 Metro Center Blvd. in Warwick.
