Community service opportunities: April

As the school semester begins to wrap up, the Center for Community Engagement and Service is offering many service opportunities for students in April to make sure that service requirements are met — including an opportunity at Norman Bird Sanctuary, a bunny play group and spring cleanup opportunities.

To register, find out more information or view all service opportunities for upcoming months, visit the The Center for Community Engagement and Service’s website. The list on the website is constantly being updated with additional opportunities, so keep checking back.

Norman Bird Sanctuary: Mabel’s Garden Volunteers

Volunteers who have their own cars and like to garden are needed at Norman Bird Sanctuary on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If you are interested, contact Joseph McLaughlin at 401-846-2577 or by email at jmclaughlin@normanbirdsanctuary.org

Housing Hotline: Crafty Crochet Volunteers

Volunteers who know how to crochet or are willing to learn are needed weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. to help make small stuffed animals for children in need. If you are interested or would like more details, please contact Olivia McGowan by email at olivia.mcgowan@salve.edu.

Friday, April 2: Salvation Army Mobile Food Delivery

Reliable and responsible volunteers who have their own cars are needed to help the Salvation Army from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Volunteers will be helping to deliver meals to families.

Wednesdays on April 7, 14, 28: Potter League for Animals Bunny Play Group

Reliable and responsible volunteers who enjoy being around animals are needed to help at the Potter League with their Bunny Play Group from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Volunteers must be pre-registered to volunteer. Participants will be picked up at Miley Hall at noon, and they will return at 1:30 p.m.

Monday, April 19: Lucy’s Hearth Parking Lot Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help at Lucy’s Hearth from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with spring cleaning of their yards and parking lots. All volunteers should dress for weather, as this event will be outside.

Tuesday, April 20: Bike Newport Bike Barn Cleanup

Volunteers are needed at the Bike Barn to help Bike Newport with spring cleaning from 2:00-4:00 p.m. All volunteers should dress for the weather, as this event is outside.

Tuesday, April 20: Salvation Army Yard Cleanup

Volunteers are needed at the Salvation Army in Newport to help with general yard cleanup from 4:30-5:30 p.m. All volunteers should dress for the weather since this event will be outside.

Tuesday, April 20: Maher Center Cleanup at Group Home

Volunteers are needed at the Maher Centers Group Home location to help with a spring cleanup from 10 a.m. to noon. All volunteers should dress for weather, as this event will be outside.

Tuesday, April 20: Maher Center Cleanup at 906 Aquidneck Avenue

Volunteers are needed at the Maher Centers Main Building in Middletown from 10 a.m. to noon to help with a spring cleanup. All volunteers should dress for weather, as this event will be outside.

Wednesday April 21: Fort Adams Spring Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help at Fort Adams preparing for spring from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers will be outside stacking wood & cutting wood. All volunteers should dress for weather since this event is outside.

Thursday, April 22: God’s Community Garden Spring Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help at God’s Community Garden from 9:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m. to help with spring cleanup. Volunteers should dress for weather as this event will be outside.

Friday, April 23: Donovan Manor Spring Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help at Donovan Manor with a Spring Cleanup from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Volunteers should dress for weather as this event will be outside.

Friday, April 30: Rhode Race & Events, Providence Marathon Registration

Volunteers are needed at the Rhode Island State House in Providence from 12:30-7:00 p.m. to help with the Providence Marathon pre-race day registration.

      A virtual information session is designed for those who are in the college search and application process. If you would like to learn more about Salve Regina University and have your questions answered in a live chat, this is the best place to start. Our sessions last approximately one hour.

      You will also be able to view our virtual tour as part of your registration for this presentation. 

      Preregistration is required.

    • Reunion Weekend
      Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June 5

      Reunion Weekend will be packed with exciting events both on and off campus. It's been too long since we've been able to welcome you to campus for a reunion celebration, so these events are sure to be worth the trip back to Newport. Return to campus and reconnect with your classmates - all alumni are welcome to attend.
