Four Seahawks earn conference honors

Congratulations to the following student athletes, who recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference and the New England Football Conference:

Men’s cross country: Sean Hughes ’16

Hughes was named runner of the week as the top conference finisher in the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Invitational, running the 5-mile race with a time of 26:49 to place 65th out of 222 runners.

Women’s cross country: Amy Irving ’17

Irving was named runner of the week after capturing 14th place in the 272-runner Corsair Invitational. She clocked a career-best 5K time of 18:37 that lifted the Seahawks to a sixth-place finish out of 38 teams.

Women’s volleyball: Dianna Tauro ’15

Tauro was named libero of the week after averaging 4.71 digs per set and posting two double-digit kill performances in a 1-1 week for the Seahawks. She also surpassed the 1,000 digs milestone in the third set against the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Football: Steven Wilken ’15

Wilken was named offensive player of the week after setting school records for completions (27) and passing yards (389) in the loss to William Paterson University. He completed 60 percent of his passes for three touchdowns and also rushed six times for two scores. Through three games for the Seahawks, Wilken has passed for 738 yards and rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns.

It's been too long since we've been able to welcome you to campus for a reunion celebration, so these events are sure to be worth the trip back to Newport.
