Senior social work majors participating in mock interview day
Senior social work majors will participate in a mock interview day Monday, April 22. The event is a collaborative effort between the Office of Career Development and the Department of Social Work.
The mock interview day is the culmination of a semester-long emphasis on readiness for employment for each graduating social work major. Students will engage in a full 30-minute mock interview with professional staff from the Office of Career Development. The interview will provide students the chance to practice and apply their interviewing skills in an effort to better prepare themselves for a professional job search in a very competitive market.
Following a class presentation earlier in the semester by Michael Wisnewski, director of career development, on effective strategies for writing cover letters and resume development, students identified an appropriate social work job listing and prepared application documents tailored specifically for that position. The mock interview is the final step in this process toward professional preparation.
At the conclusion of the mock interviews, individual and group feedback on the interviews, cover letters and resumes will be provided to all participants by career development staff and social work faculty.
