Salve Regina hosting annual Mercy Business Leadership Conference
Deans and department chairs from the business programs of nine Sisters of Mercy institutions nationwide will be on campus this weekend for the annual Mercy Business Leadership Conference.
Presentations and discussions will focus on topics such as Catholic social teaching across the curriculum, sustainability and corporate social responsibility, connecting the mercy mission to community service and health care administration as an academic offering in a mercy institution.
In addition to Salve Regina, participating institutions include:
- College of Saint Mary
- Georgian Court University
- Gwynedd-Mercy University
- Mount Aloysius College
- Mount Mercy University
- Saint Xavier University
- University of Detroit Mercy
- University of Saint Joseph
“When many other business faculty assemble, they are discussing the bottom line and how to help students make money,” said associate professor Dr. Myra Edelstein, who is organizing this year’s meeting. “When mercy faculty assemble, we discuss not only the bottom line, but how we can help our students embrace the mercy mission by making a positive difference in the world – by creating a social venture, becoming active in a sustainable business, by helping reduce the negative impact on the environment, by working in the nonprofit sector or making a positive impact by some other socially beneficial approach.”
