Salve Regina hosting Newport Music Festival performances

Two Salve Regina venues – Ochre Court and the Casino Theatre – will host more than a dozen concerts this month as part of the Newport Music Festival’s 46th season.

Scheduled for July 11-27, the festival will feature unique chamber music programs, American debuts, world-class artists and special events in venues throughout Newport. Sixty-eight concerts featuring music ranging from Bach to Bernstein will be presented during the festival.

Concerts scheduled in Ochre Court and the Casino Theatre include:

Hail Brittania!

Sunday, July 13 at 4 p.m., Ochre Court

The concert is a salute to English composers, including Paul Reade, Elias Parish-Alvars, Gilbert Vinter, Gerald Finzi, York Bowen and Frank Bridge. Tickets are $32.

Strauss Series 2

Monday, July 14 at 5 p.m., Ochre Court

The Strauss Series celebrates the 150th anniversary of German composer Richard Strauss. Tickets are $32.

Strauss Series 3

Wednesday, July 16 at 5 p.m., Ochre Court

The Strauss Series celebrates the 150th anniversary of German composer Richard Strauss. Tickets are $32.

Russian Romance

Thursday, July 17 at 5 p.m., Ochre Court

The concert will feature the works of Alexander Scriabin, Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Kabalevsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Anton Arensky. Tickets are $32.

Asylum Quartet

Monday, July 21 at 11 a.m., Casino Theatre

Winners of the 2014 International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition, the Asylum Quartet will present a family concert featuring the music of Alexander Glazunov, Philip Glass, Guillermo Lago, Ryan Jesperson, Erberk Eryilmaz and Marc Mellits. Tickets are $25 for orchestra seating, $20 for balcony seating and $10 for children.

Afternoon Virtuosity

Monday, July 21 at 6 p.m., Casino Theatre

A tribute to Belgian virtuoso violinist Eugene Ysaye, the concert will feature Romanian violinist Eugen Tzikindelean. Tickets are $20.

Romantic Night

Monday, July 21 at 8 p.m., Casino Theatre

Starring Italian violinist Grazia Raimondi, the concert will feature music from late Romantic masters, including Gustav Mahler, Fritz Kreisler, Ennio Morricone, Patrizia Montanaro, Astor Piazzolla and Johannes Brahms. Tickets are $42 for orchestra seating and $37 for balcony seating.

Revel in Ravel

Tuesday, July 22 at 11 a.m., Casino Theatre

The concert will feature the music of Maurice Joseph Ravel. Tickets are $35 for orchestra seating and $30 for balcony seating.

Guitar and Friends

Tuesday, July 22 at 4 p.m., Casino Theatre

Starring the inspiring Australian guitarist Rupert Boyd, the concert will feature the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, Enrique Granados, Johann Sebastian Bach, Arvo Part, Luigi Rinaldo Legnani, Niccolo Paganini and Robert Beaser. Tickets are $30 for orchestra seating and $25 for balcony seating.

Viva Vivaldi

Tuesday, July 22 at 8 p.m., Casino Theatre

One of the festival’s signature concerts, “Viva Vivaldi” will celebrate Baroque master Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Tickets are $42 for orchestra seating and $37 for balcony seating.

Strauss Series 5

Wednesday, July 23 at 11 a.m., Casino Theatre

This virtuoso morning program will feature selections from Richard Strauss at the height of his powers. Tickets are $30 for orchestra seating and $25 for balcony seating.

Bach Anniversary

Wednesday, July 23 at 4 p.m., Casino Theatre

The concert will celebrate Carl Philip Emanuel Bach’s 300th anniversary. Tickets are $30 for orchestra seating and $25 for balcony seating.

Mozart Evening

Wednesday, July 23 at 8 p.m., Casino Theatre

The concert will feature the popular and powerful works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Tickets are $42 for orchestra seating and $37 for balcony seating.
