SRyou showcasing students’ academic and creative abilities
The fourth annual SRyou Student Exposition will be held Friday, March 22 in McAuley Hall and the O’Hare Academic Center. Sessions of poster presentations, performances and exhibitions featuring the work of students will be held throughout the day, which will also include special breakfast and lunch menus in the Miley cafeteria and a closing reception in Ochre Court.
The main purpose of SRyou 2013 is to showcase students’ academic and creative abilities to the entire Salve Regina community. Classes will be suspended from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. so that students, faculty and staff may attend presentations and performances and view exhibits create by undergraduates and five-year students. Staff members are especially encouraged to attend the sessions, which run from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m.
The wide array of sessions covers many fields of interest, including the sciences, social sciences, humanities, professional studies and performing and fine arts. More than 200 students representing 20 academic programs, campus offices and student organizations will share their work during SRyou 2013.
Each year, a student-run planning board works with University administration to coordinate activities and make SRyou possible. This year’s theme, “Shine Some Light,” emphasizes how student presenters enlighten and enrich our community with their research, artistic work and campus and community service.
Members of the Salve Regina community will receive a raffle ticket for each session they attend and will have the opportunity to win prizes from local vendors during the closing reception, which will be held from 3-4 p.m. in Ochre Court. The first 100 attendees will receive this year’s SRyou T-shirt. Presenters and attendees will also receive a special coupon that can be redeemed at Friday Night Live: Casino Night for five raffle tickets.
