Want a way to support University community members in need because of the pandemic? Get moving with Salve Regina and support the Mercy Emergency Relief Fund from the comfort of home or a local outdoor trail by participating in the Salve Cares Virtual 5K.

All staff, faculty, students, alumni, parents and friends can register online for the Salve Cares Virtual 5K. It costs $25 to register, and registration can be found here. After they register, they will receive a confirmation email with a link to a downloadable PDF Race Bib, which they can print before they go out for their 5K.

The Salve Cares Virtual 5K will run from June 12-July 12. During this month, participants can complete the 5K wherever they feel most comfortable walking, jogging or running — be it on a treadmill, a neighborhood or a hiking trail. Share photos and experiences on social media with the #MovingForMercy hashtag. A Facebook event has also been created to share photos.

On Monday, July 13, certificates of completion will be mailed to all who registered.  The Office of Alumni, Parents and Families will host an event where participants can find helping tips, share their story and their race times.

The Salve Cares Virtual 5K will support the efforts of the Mercy Emergency Relief Fund, which supports the Salve Regina community and the University in times of need due to extraordinary circumstances. The allocation of donations to this fund is designated by President Kelli J. Armstrong, who will utilize the Mercy Emergency Relief Fund to support the many efforts under way on behalf of our students and the University that have arisen from the global pandemic.
