Theater program presenting “Brighton Beach Memoirs”
Salve Regina’s theater program will present Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical play “Brighton Beach Memoirs” at the Casino Theater Oct. 18-21. Directed by Patricia Hawkridge, performances will be given at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with 2 p.m. matinees Saturday and Sunday.
In 1937, during the heart of the Depression, 15-year-old Eugene Jerome is living with his family in a crowded, lower-middle-class Brooklyn walk-up. Dreaming of baseball and girls, Eugene copes with the mundane existence of his family life in Brooklyn: formidable mother, overworked father and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed aunt Blanche, her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters and you have a recipe for hilarity.
The cast includes Julia Curtin ’20, Danny Landino ’20, Skyler Lasit ’22, Madisyn Mugavero ’19, Morgan Salpietro ’19, Vanessa Sciolto ’19 and Bradley Simpson ’20. The crew includes Zach Bailey ’20, Abbie Burchard ’21 and Jillian Tereshka ’19.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and military and $8 for Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. For ticket information or reservations, contact the box office at (401) 341-2250.
