Varone named rookie of the year

Victoria Varone ’17 was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference rookie of the year and earned a spot on the all-conference team after finishing third overall at the conference championship last Saturday.

Salve Regina posted a team score of 63 to finish behind the University of New England (39) and Roger Williams University (41).

Amy Irving ’17, Ema Waldschmidt ’14, Nicole Schafer ’17 and Alannah O’Rourke ’17 were the other scorers for Salve Regina, while Rachel Gedansky ’16 and Kayley Ryan ’14 were the Seahawks’ sixth and seventh runners.

The Seahawks return to action Saturday, Nov. 9 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III championships at Colt State Park in Bristol.
