Newport 10 Miler

Volunteers are needed to help with the Newport 10 Miler road race on Sunday, April 28. Volunteers will be responsible for filling water cups for athletes and cleaning up garbage associated with the water stop. Volunteers will be asked to arrive at 7:30 a.m. and stay until 10:30 a.m. For more information, contact Matt Gray at

Rebuilding Together

Do you have a green thumb? If so, then participate in the Office of Community Service’s Rebuilding Together program. The event will take place Saturday, April 27 in two shifts: 9 a.m. to noon or 1-3 p.m. Students will be provided transportation from Miley Hall to the Newport group home. To sign up, e-mail

Day of Service

The Office of Community Service, in accordance with the community partners listed below, will host a Day of Service Thursday, April 25. Click here to get involved.

  • Boys & Girls Club – Painting/cleaning from 9 a.m. to noon
  • Mumford Manor – Heavy cleanup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Village House Nursing Home – Gardening/planting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Middletown Senior Center – Cleanup from noon to 3 p.m.
  • Newport Art Museum – Landscaping/yard work from 1-4 p.m.

Earth Day Cleanup

Friends of Ballard Park is seeking volunteers to help with its Earth Day cleanup from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 27. Those interested in volunteering should meet at the trail sign by the quarry meadow at 9 a.m. and wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty (sneakers, sweatshirts, etc.).
