Build strength through group boot camps, personal training offered at Rodgers Recreation Center
Rodgers Recreation Center is offering boot camp group trainings from now until May 13. Staff, faculty and students are all encouraged to attend these free opportunities, which are lead by Marcus Calhoun ’12 (M), fitness center coordinator, and Mike Pagliarini ’17, fitness center monitor.
The group boot camps will be held at the following times:
- Mondays at 6 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m
- Tuesdays at 5 p.m.
- Wednesdays at 7 a.m. and 12 p.m.
- Fridays at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The one-hour boot camp workouts consist of cardiovascular conditioning like running, walking and plyometrics; strength training with weights, stability balls, resistance bands, medicine balls and kettle bells; and stretching. Calhoun and Pagliarini vary the exercises and format of every workout so that no two boot camp sessions are the same.
Calhoun and Pagliarini also offer personal training for individuals for $50 per session. A package of 5 sessions is $225 and 10 sessions is $400. They can also offer small group training for up to 5 people at $20 per person.
Calhoun has been in the strength and conditioning field since 2007 when he graduated from University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s in kinesiology. He then completed his MBA at Salve Regina in 2012 while working as the assistant strength and conditioning coach. Calhoun has worked extensively with a variety of clientele ranging from student athletes to older populations, and he can adapt to any specific needs or concerns people may have.
Pagliarini graduated from Salve Regina with a bachelor’s degree in finance and financial management in 2017. He is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer and acts as a strength coach at Salve Regina assisting the athletes across all sports to progressively improve and develop their athletic performance throughout the year, as well helping the student body and faculty achieve their fitness goals.
