Walk-ins welcome at yoga, Pilates classes
Faculty and staff are reminded that walk-ins are welcome at the weekly yoga and Pilates classes that are ongoing throughout the fall semester. Walk-ins for all classes are $15 per session. For more information, contact Cindy Donnelly at (401) 341-3160 or cynthia.donnelly@salve.edu.
Pilates
Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. through Dec. 17 (no classes Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10) in the Rodgers Recreation Center, Rooms 030-031. Ellen Weaver Paquette leads this exercise program emphasizing balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and torso stability. Participants are encouraged to bring a mat and wear loose-fitting clothing and socks.
Yoga
Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. through Dec. 18 (no class Dec. 11) in the Rodgers Recreation Center, Rooms 030-031. Christine Reed leads this hatha yoga session focusing on breathing, stretching and strengthening to support physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, bring yoga mat and blanket (or large towel) to each class.
Svaroopa Yoga
Thursdays from 12:15-1:15 p.m. through Dec. 20 (no class Nov. 22) in the Rodgers Recreation Center, Room 039. Julie Barry leads this supported and compassionate style of yoga based on a sequence of deceptively simple poses that are fully supported with blankets and blocks. Through a blend of asanas (poses), breathing and meditation, participants experience release from pain, enhanced ease of movement and reduced mental stress and fatigue. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing.
