Fun Fridays: McKillop Library offers online National Poetry Month activities
McKillop Library is proud to present a digital National Poetry Month event for the year 2020 using a website instead of a physical display.
On this website, we have provided you with information on National Poetry Month, resources for reading and writing poetry, a link for an at-home activity that includes modifying famous writing to create your own poem and an opportunity to share your original poetry. You’ll also find recommended e-resources from the library.
Olivia Seymour helped create this interactive online event for National Poetry Month. She is a University of Rhode Island graduate student completing her MLIS degree this upcoming May. A native of Newport, Rhode Island, Seymour has been an intern at the McKillop Library this past semester to receive credits towards her Professional Field Experience requirement for her degree.
“It has been such a joy to spend time at the library, gain real experience and participate in different projects like National Poetry Month,” said Seymour. “I received my undergraduate degree in English, and poetry is very dear to my heart. I truly hope you all enjoy interacting with the site as much as I enjoyed creating for you, and thank you to the staff at the McKillop Library for providing me with this wonderful opportunity.”
Please enjoy this interactive, online event for National Poetry Month — and be sure to reach out to the library anytime should you need support throughout the rest of the semester!
Each Friday, SALVEtoday will provide fun ideas and experiences to encourage and uplift the University community during this time of remote living and learning. #salvesgotthis #funfridays
