Virtual informational session on applying for Fulbright Fellowships for 2021-22

Salve Regina is encouraging rising seniors, graduating seniors and graduate students to apply and compete in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program for the 2021-22 academic year. A virtual information session on the Fulbright Program will take place Thursday, April 30th, at 4 p.m.

The virtual information session will provide students with tips on getting started, selecting an award type and country and a timeline for completing the application components. Students can take part in the virtual information session on Webex by logging into salve.webex.com on Thursday, April 30th, at 4 p.m. They can then enter the meeting number: 471 874 887, and the password to attend is Fulbright.

If students can’t attend the virtual meeting on Thursday, students can also schedule virtual advising sessions Erin FitzGerald, Salve Regina’s Fulbright Program adviser, at erin.fitzgerald@salve.edu.

The Campus Deadline for submitting a Fulbright application for review by the Campus Committee is Friday, August 21, 2020. Campus Committee interviews take place in September, and the National Deadline for submission of the application is Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program funds study/research awards or English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Programs in over 140 different countries. Students choose one country to compete in, and then they will undergo a rigorous application process. Over 1,650 volunteer Fulbright Program advisers on campuses nationwide assist in the recruitment and advisement of applicants.

Students competing for the study/research awards should have one or more of the following experiences: research experience, study abroad experience in target country, institutional or organizational contacts in target country and ability to communicate in target country language.

Students competing for the ETA Program should have one or more of the following: experience in leadership roles; student mentoring experience; tutoring/teaching experience; ability to communicate in target country language, which is sometimes not required; and study abroad experience, which does not have to have taken place in the target country.
