Join the Vigil and Forum for Racial Justice

All staff, faculty and students are invited to attend a Vigil and Forum for Racial Justice to mourn the recent tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others.

While it is a time of deep mourning, it is also a time to listen and learn. Racism is one of the five critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy, and Salve Regina knows it is essential to continue the discussion on racism here on the University’s campus.

“Let us proceed to listen to one another, to understand more deeply and fully the ways in which racism has impacted our community, so we can together manifest our Mercy mission and work for a world that is more harmonious, just and merciful,” said Dr. Kelli J. Armstrong, president of Salve Regina, in her recent statement. “It is who we are called to be.”

The forum will include prayers, readings and reflections from members of the University community, including Rose Albert ’13, assistant director of multicultural programs; Chiquita Baylor, director of student engagement; Father Ray Malm, a University chaplain; Izabella Mangual-Solivan ’22, SGA president; and Dr. Tim Neary, professor of history and American studies.

Change starts on campus and in discussions the community will be empowered to have during this volatile time in American history.
