Athletics announces the reboot of SeahawkTalk™ Season Two
Salve Regina University Athletics has announced the reboot of SeahawkTalk™ Season Two — a video-based talk show hosted on Salve Athletic’s YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter channels.
During the initial University shutdown from COVID-19 in the spring of 2020, SeahawkTalk debuted on just YouTube for a nine-week run. The program will now air live on these three platforms from 3 to 4 p.m. each day on Monday through Friday, with 90 episodes completed by Friday, Jan. 1, 2021.
“This semester again with no live sports competition, we will go live to three destinations and interact with our guests and viewers by sharing their comments on-screen during an 18-week run,” said Ed Habershaw, the show’s host and executive producer and Salve Regina’s associate director of athletics.
Instead of four 15-minute segments each episode, SeahawkTalk will now have six 10-minute pieces. The first and last 10 minutes of each episode will be themed features, intros, news, previews, wrap-ups, leftovers and specials. From 3:10 to 3:50, the show will have regular guests join the virtual studio for various conversations.
Jody Mooradian, Salve Regina’s athletic director, will lead off each week with her 3:10 spot on Mondays. Salve Regna’s 18 head coaches will have the other regular spots with one lone segment, 3:10 p.m. on Tuesdays, rotating among a variety of contributors.
Salve Regina’s Rogers Recreation Center manager, Tom Blaney, will take that spot the first Tuesday of each month on Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1. Gregg Kaye, Salve Regina’s conference commissioner, has the second Tuesday of each month on Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. Salve Regina’s athletic trainers, admissions counselors, faculty, student affairs personnel, graduate studies, alumni office and others will be invited for the remaining Tuesday openings.
“What a wonderful platform,” said Mooradian in her sixth year as the Salve Regina’s athletic director and her second as a member of the NCAA Division III Committee on Infractions. “I enjoy conversing with Ed, and then he’s able to seamlessly bring in other guests on the same stream as they are waiting ‘backstage’ during the program.”
Habershaw will be host most of the time, followed by Andrew Pezzelli, sports information assistant, several other times. There will be occasional host appearances by senior interns Michael DeFusco ’21 and Joey Morelli ’21.
“For coaches and student athletes, there may be times we go live from their practice setting for their 10-minute segment or the entire episode,” Habershaw added. “If conditions permit, we may also equip an individual with our wireless mic to record his or her audio during practice.”
Season Two of SeahawkTalk™ will not live stream on the following dates:
- Columbus Day (Mon., Oct 12)
- Election Day (Tue., Nov 3)
- Veterans’ Day (Wed., Nov 11)
- Thanksgiving Day (Thu., Nov 26)
- Christmas Eve (Thu., Dec 24)
- Christmas Day (Fri., Dec 25)
“We are still planning for broadcasts on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and praying that live competition returns for Seahawks as soon as the calendar turns to 2021,” said Habershaw.
For those who want to enjoy the show on-the-go, the Seahawk Talk Podcast, which is an audio-only version of each episode, is now available for listeners. It’s hosted on Sounder.fm, and the podcast is also available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, TuneIn, and Stitcher. Just search for “Seahawk Talk” on any podcast platform.
