Technology Services Center shares new wifi network, phone information

Technology Services Center has upgraded Wi-Fi access in the residence halls in order to provide increased speeds and coverage to students living on campus. Desktop and laptop computers, gaming and entertainment systems and mobile devices such as tablets and phones can be easily registered on the new network “SRU-ResNet Students.”

The residence halls also provide a wired network connection (Ethernet), which can be used for internet access for gaming and entertainment systems and to supplement wireless access for computers when needed. Students should not bring their own wireless access points or routers for use in the residence halls.

SRU-Community Network

Connecting to the SRU-Community Wi-Fi network in campus buildings other than residence halls will enable access to the multifactor authentication required to log in to Microsoft Office 365. The Microsoft authenticator app for iOS, Android or Windows 10 is required.

Alternatively, you may opt to receive a text message for the authentication code. Please keep in mind that your cell phone may not have coverage in some campus buildings. In this case, connect to the SRU-Community network and use the authenticator app to receive your authentication code.

Phone Service on Campus

Mobile phone providers such as Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile have varying degrees of reception and connectivity on campus. Verizon is locally providing service on campus, while other services are dependent on your location on campus. Some providers’ signals will not penetrate buildings on campus. Although Salve Regina has no control over the reception of cell phone providers on campus, the University enhances Verizon service whenever and wherever possible.
