Food drive offers chance to feed families during challenging Thanksgiving season
All offices, departments, student organizations, sports teams, residence halls, classes and organizations, along with students who want to form a team of their own, are invited to participate in the Center for Community Engagement and Service’s annual Thanksgiving Feed a Family Food Drive.
It has been a particularly challenging year for many families in need, and local food banks have seen an increase in attendance due to the coronavirus pandemic. This makes it all the more important to help out families in need during Thanksgiving.
This year due to Covid-19, participants may register to feed a family of five or purchase gift cards in order to support families.
If participants select to feed a family, they can put items in a few boxes or bags — but be sure to include enough food for a family of five. Please note that the center will not be handing out bags this year.
If participants choose the gift card option, they can purchase a gift card in any amount. Please make sure the gift card is for Walmart, Shaws or Stop & Shop.
Bags or gift cards should be delivered to Gerety Hall, Room 201, by noon on Thursday, Nov. 19.
Suggested non-perishable items to buy could include:
