Attend webinar on coping with stress and anxiety during pandemic
As the pandemic continues to linger longterm, it can cause more stress and anxiety in people’s lives than anyone might care to acknowledge. With this in mind, Human Resources is offering a virtual webinar entitled “ManagingĀ StressĀ and Anxiety during the COVID-19 Pandemic” on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at noon. Faculty and staff can register for the event here.
This webinar is an opportunity to hear about the ways that many people have been responding to this massive change in day-to-day routines during the pandemic and the challenges that this pandemic presents.
Tom Ruggieri, LCSW-C, from the University of Maryland Faculty Staff Assistance Program, will review the common reactions of anxiety, stress and grieving with which many of us have been challenged. He will also present some coping skills to remind everyone of the need to stay resilient and focused so that each person can be prepared for this marathon.
This event is an opportunity for the University community to come together as a community and realize that everyone is in this together, and the community will do its best to support each other and make it to the other side.
Tom Ruggieri, LCSW-C, became the coordinator of the Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) in 1988. This was a return home as he had graduated with a B.S. from College Park in 1980 and was raised close by in Hyattsville. Ruggieri has been in the mental health and substance abuse fields since 1977, having worked in a variety of settings, including crisis centers, adolescent group homes, hospitals, family counseling centers, and substance abuse units.
Ruggieri received his Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore in 1984. Since then, he has provided employee assistance program consulting services to a variety of organizations, both nationally and internationally. Prior to his work at UMD, he was a manager for the Sheppard Pratt Employee Assistance Programs.
Participation in this event can be logged as a wellness credit on the Tufts Health Portal.
