Join Salve Regina’s Day of Giving to celebrate student life
The University will celebrate its inaugural Salve Day of Giving on Thursday, March 25, shining a spotlight on student life at Salve Regina. Already an annual event at colleges and universities across the country, this giving day for Salve Regina will foster a new tradition and provide opportunities to support students and campus life.
Designed to engage and empower Salve Regina’s student population, the crowdfunding campaign for Salve Day of Giving aims to have 500 donors give to a favorite student organization, activity or scholarship.
Co-curricular experiences are vital to a vibrant college experience. Now more than ever, students are benefiting from the skills they acquire and relationships they build through involvement in campus activities and organizations.
“We have our sights set on the future,” said J. Malcom Smith, vice president of student affairs. “To a time where when our students can gather together safely, a time when our student athletes can compete as a team, and a time when our many student organizations can represent the University as they work within our ever-growing community.”
Ashley Dwyer ’22, vice president of the Student Government Association and chairwoman of the Student Organization Recognition Committee, said that the support provided through Salve Day of Giving means a tremendous amount to students. “This is their oasis, their home away from home,” she said. “Being involved on campus and doing what they’re doing with their student organizations gives students a sense of peace given everything that’s happened this year.”
All Salve Day of Giving donors will receive a limited-edition laptop sticker. Students who are interested in participating can stop by wing night in Gerety Hall from 8-10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, for a Salve Day of Giving treat. While there, students who give to their favorite organization, sport or activity can choose from three sticker designs.
Student volunteers will also be situated near Gerety Hall from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 25 for the campus community to stop by and give. Online giving is available now on the Salve Day of Giving webpage, where all areas of campus life are represented, including student organizations, academic clubs, athletics, scholarships and more.
Through the generosity of alumni and parents, special challenge gifts are being offered to increase the resources raised for student life and scholarships. Gifts made now through March 25 will count toward the challenges, and a total of $15,000 will be earned if all challenges are met.
