Salve Day of Giving raises $130K for students

The University celebrated its inaugural Salve Day of Giving March 25 in support of student life. Designed to engage and empower Salve Regina’s student population, the crowdfunding campaign for Salve Day of Giving highlighted student organizations, activities and scholarships.

Through the generosity of alumni, students, faculty, staff, trustees, families and friends, Salve Day of Giving raised more than $130,000. Here are just a few of the highlights from the day:

  • Gifts surpassed the goal of 500, with 650 gifts received.
  • Funds were raised for over 50 student groups.
  • The highest number of gifts came from Salve Regina alumni (40%), followed by parents (25%) and faculty/staff (18%).
  • Students also supported the day of giving, showing their Salve Regina spirit by making gifts to their favorite club or team.

“On behalf of myself and the University, thank you so much for your support of our inaugural Salve Day of Giving,” said Elizabeth Baza ’24, a student who helped out during the Day of Giving. “It wouldn’t have been a success without your generous donations. So thank you for your support of student life at Salve Regina.”

Mae Patten, chief advancement officer, affirmed the gratitude that the University felt. “The University is grateful to the many volunteers who gave their time and talent to ensure the success of Salve Day of Giving,” she said. “This included students, alumni and parent volunteers, and faculty and staff ambassadors.”

Included in the success of the day were seven challenge gifts from community members. Parents Katie and Chris Daly, alumni Sara Duda Clary ’00, Sandra J. Flowers PhD ’65, ’06, Robert P. Moran, Jr. ’86, and Dr. Elizabeth Ciallella Piasecki ’70, parents Sal and Dawn Rinaldi and a special anonymous alumna sponsored a total of $30,000 in challenges for Salve Day of Giving which were unlocked through the generosity of the Salve Regina community.
