Writers will benefit from upcoming virtual Newport MFA Workshop

The Newport MFA program at Salve Regina is offering a Newport MFA Workshop, where writers of fiction and nonfiction are invited for a virtual weekend of writing critiques, craft talks and readings in the presence of best-selling authors on Jan. 7-9, 2022. The Newport MFA Workshop will be an excellent way for writers who aren’t necessarily ready to commit to a full MFA program to find writing inspiration and work on their projects.

For the Newport MFA Workshop, New York Times best-selling authors Emily Bernard and Andre Dubus III will lead workshops centered on aspiring writers. In addition to in-depth attention to a writer’s work, each writer will have an immersive weekend of readings and craft discussions, including a talk on the process of publishing and promoting a book.

The program will be held virtually and overlaps with events of the official Newport MFA program’s winter residency for its graduate students. The Newport MFA Workshop participants will get a peek inside the full MFA program by attending craft talks and readings by MFA faculty and visiting writers.

Fiction and nonfiction writers alike will deepen their prose and leave with community, connection and inspiration. No matter what stage in one’s writing life, this workshop will help a writer connect to their writing in a fresh, new way.
