Pell Center to host roundtable discussion on the politicization of U.S. immigration

The Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy will host a roundtable discussion about immigration on Friday, Sept. 30, from 11:45 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. The event will be held at the back of the O’Hare Academic Building on the lawn, and a free lunch will be provided. Salve Regina staff, faculty and students are invited to participate.

The discussion will be lead by Dr. Jim Ludes, vice president for strategic initiatives at Salve Regina and the executive director of the Pell Center. The topic be will around the politicization of U.S. immigration inspired by recent events — including the movement of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Washington, D.C. and other northern sanctuary cities from southern border states.

The discussion will focus on how such events are portrayed on the Right and Left and what political motivations lie beneath the tactics.

Roundtable discussions are open to students, faculty and staff at Salve Regina University. The Pell Center will provide a free lunch, and space is limited. Please RSVP to pellcenter@salve.edu.
