McMorrow named rookie of the week

Forward Courtney McMorrow ’17 was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference rookie of the week for field hockey after contributing offensively to both of the team’s victories last week.

McMorrow scored the lone goal against defending conference champion Endicott College for a 1-0 win last Wednesday. Later in the week, she added another goal in a 4-2 conference victory over visiting Roger Williams University.

Salve Regina now owns a 4-1 conference record, and is tied with Gordon College for second in the league standings, one game behind University of New England. The team rides a two-game win streak into its next conference matchup, a home game scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 against Western New England University.
