Women’s ice hockey names three captains
Women’s ice hockey head coach Michael Cox has named the three captains of the 2013-2014 Seahawk squad: Monika Borkowski ’14, Shannon Coleman ’14 and Taylor Shepherd ’15.
“These three young ladies have certainly earned the respect of their teammates and coaches through their hard work, dedication and selflessness,” Cox said. “They are all fiercely competitive, championship driven and they have the uncanny ability to inspire their teammates to greatness. I have the upmost confidenceĀ in their ability to lead on and off the ice and set a great example for their teammates. We’re in good hands.”
Borkowksi finished the year with five points (5 assists) for Salve Regina. Coleman was an anchor on a Seahawk defense that posted a 2.26 goals against average, while Shepherd finished the year third on the team in points with 24 (12 goals, 12 assists).
Last year, the Seahawks posted an overall record of 15-11 and 11-7 slate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference East. Salve Regina kicks off the 2013-2014 season at 3 p.m. Nov. 2 at the St. George’s School rink.
