Aston named rookie of the week

Steven Aston ’17 has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference rookie of the week for men’s soccer.

Aston played all 200 minutes last week for the Seahawks in a 1-0-1 week in conference play. He anchored a Salve Regina backline that only allowed a single shot on frame during the Seahawks double overtime draw at Western New England University. Aston and the Salve Regina defense then went on to limit the Wentworth Institute of Technology offense to just four shots on goal in a 4-0 shutout victory.

Salve Regina’s victory last Saturday, coupled with a Roger Williams University loss, knotted both teams at 4-3-1 in conference standings, sharing fourth place. The Seahawks can clinch the fourth seed and a first-round home playoff game in the conference championships with a win Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Eastern Nazarene College.
