Students encouraged to explore study abroad options while at Salve
The Center for Global Education & Fellowships is eager for Salve Regina students to explore study abroad options and to dive deeper into making a global experience a reality while at Salve.
All Salve students are invited to explore their many options at the annual Study Abroad Fair, which is scheduled for 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, in the main floor of Ochre Court. Light refreshments and h’oeuvres will be served. There will be free foldable bags that will be available for student attendees as long as supplies last.
During the Study Abroad Fair, study abroad alumni who have participated in a program will be present to provide unique insights and answer questions about their time abroad. Visiting students from many of Salve Regina’s exchange partners will also be present to share their experiences in their home country.

Study abroad at Salve
Through Salve’s vast program options, students can study abroad in over 30 countries that span all major continents. In most recent years, Salve students have studied abroad in over 15 countries across 4 continents through short-term, semester and year-long programming.
“Our office has seen our fall semester grow from only two students who went abroad in fall of 2021 to over 15 students this fall 2023 semester,” said Joe Meringolo, assistant director of study abroad. “There have been dozens of students who attended Global Salve info sessions all last school year who have been preparing for spring 2024 study abroad. Our office is excited to see so many students building their roadmap towards a study abroad experience.”
First year students and students of all years can meet with faculty and study abroad alumni to learn about Global Salve short-term programs.
For short-term programs, programs are typically offered during winter break, spring break or during the summer time. The winter or spring break programs have lasted around 10-14 days including travel in the past. In the summer time, the short-term Global Salve programs historically have been between 4-8 weeks.
There will be more details about the short-term programs on offer early in the school year. Regarding semester and academic year study abroad, students can connect with partners who represent programs based around the world. Students have access to study abroad programming institutions that span the globe. This fall 2023 semester, there are Seahawks who are studying in seven countries around the world: the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Australia, Italy, Spain and England.
Experiential learning abroad can be achieved through coursework, international service learning and internships for academic credit in the different types of programs. All majors and classes can find a program — short-term, semester or academic year — that matches the personal interests, academic needs and professional ambitions of each student.
The deadline for semester spring semester study abroad is Oct. 1, and short-term programs vary by program.
