Five Seahawks on all-conference squad, Parsons coach of the year

Five members of the women’s volleyball team have been named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference all-conference squad. In addition, second-year head coach Lauren Parsons was named the coach of the year for 2013.

Parsons guided the Seahawks to the championship match last year. Under her tutelage, they enter the upcoming conference tournament as the No. 2 seed after concluding the regular season with a program-best 25-3 record. The Seahawks ended the regular season ranking first in blocks per set and placing second in hitting percentage, kills per set, assists per set and digs per set.

Clare Adams ’14 was named to the all-conference first team. An outside hitter, she enters the postseason ranking sixth in the league in kills per set. Adams is the school’s all-time kill leader and one of only four Seahawks to amass more than 1,000 career digs (1,239), ranking third overall.

Jennifer Duggan ’15 was named to the all-conference first team. An outside hitter, she has earned conference player of the week honors three times and once garnered the Eastern College Athletic Conference player of the week honor for New England. Duggan currently ranks fourth all-time in total kills for the Seahawks and has the highest kills per set average in school history.

Katelyn Beauregard ’15 received an honorable mention. An opposite side hitter, she ranks third on the Seahawks in kills per set while also totaling the third-most assists. Beauregard has the second-most blocks on the team this season.

Dianna Tauro ’15 received an honorable mention. A libero, she anchors a Seahawk defense with 333 digs in 88 sets. Her 3.78 digs per set ranks seventh in the league.

Taylor Violet ’15 received an honorable mention. A setter, she became the school’s all-time leader in assists in just two seasons. This season, Violet established personal and program highs in assists and assists per set.

Salve Regina will host a conference semifinal match at the Rodgers Recreation Center at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children, while Salve Regina and visiting students with valid ID are admitted free of charge.
