LoCicero, Watkins earn weekly conference honors
Nick LoCicero ’17 and Andrew Watkins ’17 were named the Commonwealth Coast Conference rookie and defensive player of the week, respectively, after helping the men’s lacrosse team to a 2-0 week.
LoCicero led the Seahawks with 11 points last week. He handed out a game-high five assists and added two goals in Salve Regina’s 18-8 victory over Hood College. LoCicero followed up with three more assists and one goal in a 12-11 victory over Wesley College.
LoCicero leads the team and the conference in assists with 22 on the season, while also being just three helpers shy of tying Salve Regina’s single-season record of 25. He is averaging 4.0 assists per game and 5.5 points per game this season.
Watkins finished the week with a 7.13 goals against average, making 22 saves and allowing 12 goals in 101 minutes of action. In the win over Hood, he held the Blazers to just one goal in 41 minutes in the net while making six saves. Watkins went on to record 16 saves in the win over Wesley.
The Seahawks are 6-0 this season and will look to continue their winning streak as they travel to Clark University on Wednesday, March 19. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
