Classes will be suspended from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. so that students, faculty and staff may attend presentations and performances and view exhibits create by undergraduates and five-year students. Staff members are especially encouraged to attend the sessions, which will run from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m.
More than 250 students representing 20 academic programs, campus offices and student organizations will share their work during SRyou 2014.
Sessions will cover many fields of interest, including the sciences, social sciences, humanities, professional studies and performing and fine arts. Students will share their experiences from science laboratories to international study to internships and community service in Rhode Island and abroad.
Each year, a student-run planning board coordinates all of the activities associated with SRyou. This year’s theme, “Create a Spark,” emphasizes how student presenters enlighten and enrich our community with their research, artistic work and campus and community service.
Members of the Salve Regina community will receive a raffle ticket for each session they attend and will have the opportunity to win door prizes from campus offices and local vendors during the closing reception, which will be held from 3-4 p.m. in Ochre Court.
The first 100 attendees will receive this year’s SRyou T-shirt and the first 75 will receive a coupon for the Starbucks in Miley Hall. Student attendees will also receive a special coupon for a door prize at the open mic night on Friday evening. Entertainment for the closing reception will be provided by the Salve Regina jazz band under the direction of Peter Davis.
