18-hour dance marathon benefiting Hasbro Children’s Hospital
This weekend, Salve Regina students will stand for those who cannot during the second annual dance marathon. Scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, March 28 to noon Saturday, March 29 in Ochre Court, the dance marathon will benefit Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
Students will remain standing throughout the 18-hour event while dancing, playing games and interacting with families and patients from the hospital. Each hour will have a theme – including the 90s, Disney and rave – and dancers will be joined by Hasbro’s 2014 Champion Child.

Last year’s dance marathon raised more than $13,000. Students who want to participate this year can register and start a personal fundraising page at www.helpmakemiracles.org/event/salvedancemarathon. Registration is $10 and students are required to raise at least $40 in pledges to participate.

Donations from faculty and staff
The Office of Student Activities is also seeking donations of food, beverages and supplies to help sustain the dancing students. Faculty and staff are asked to consider contributing an item to help curb the costs associated with feeding such a large group for the duration of the event.
Items needed include cases of water or sports beverages (please no energy drinks); fruit and veggie platters; granola, cereal and/or power bars; small bags of chips; individually packaged snacks; candy; juice boxes; paper plates, napkins, cups and plastic utensils; and gift cards in any denomination to use as raffle prizes.
Faculty and staff who are interested in donating should contact the Office of Student Activities at (401) 341-2915.
