Four Seahawks named preseason All-Americans
Four Salve Regina football players – Matt Conroy ’15, Paul Hurley ’15, Hayden Stanton ’16 and Phil Terio ’15 – have been named to various 2014 preseason All-American teams.
Conroy was named a pre-season second team defense All-American by USA College Football. Conroy finished the 2013 season with 70 tackles, 11 tackles for loss for 39 yards, four sacks, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions for 17 yards.
Hurley received USA College Football preseason Division III All-American offensive first team honors. He was one of only two offensive linemen to start every game for the Seahawks in 2013, and was named to the New England Football Conference’s first team offensive line.
Stanton, a co-captain for the 2014 season, received first team defensive honors on Lindy’s Sports preseason all-Division III list, was named a D3Football.com 2014 preseason second team defense All-American, and garnered an honorable mention from USA College Football’s Division III preseason All-American list. Last season, Stanton recorded 57 tackles, a league-leading 11.5 sacks for 64 yards, 17 tackles for loss for 94 yards, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks.
Terio was named a USA College Football Division III preseason All-American first team cornerback and second team defense on Lindy’s Sports preseason all-Division III team. Last season, he compiled 60 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss for nine yards, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, two interceptions and one punt returned for a touchdown.
