Birrell, McCullouch, McPherson named All-CCC
Kaitlyn Birrell ’13 has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s soccer offensive player of the year for the second consecutive season, earning a spot on the All-CCC first team. In addition, Erin McCullough ’14 was selected to the All-CCC second team while Jacqueline McPherson ’14 earned All-CCC honorable mention.
Birrell continued to be the top offensive threat in the conference this season, leading all players with 46 points and a Salve Regina program record 21 goals on the season, while also compiling a conference-best 25 points and 11 goals during CCC play. She was named the CCC offensive player of the week twice. She graduates as Salve Regina’s all-time leader in points (181), goals (74), assists (33) and game-winning scores (17).
McCullough gave the Seahawks a boost this season with her speed on the edge and tenacious style of play. She scored the game-winning goal versus Rhode Island College on Sept. 11 while also dishing out assists against Curry College and the University of Massachusetts Boston.
McPherson provided Salve Regina with a consistent presence in net, starting all 19 games for the Seahawks this season. She finished the season with eight wins, five shutouts, 140 saves, a .795 save percentage and a 1.86 goals-against average. She ranked third in the conference in total saves.
