Short-term program to explore language, culture of Spain
Students who are interested in completing their language requirement in Spain are encouraged to consider this summer’s short-term study abroad program in Seville, scheduled for June 3-25.
The program will be led by Dr. Linda Crawford, professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages. Participants will receive six credits, three of which will count toward the language requirement.
An information session about the program will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 in the O’Hare Academic Center, Room 268.
In the mornings, students will study language at an institute in the heart of Seville, blocks from the Cathedral and the Alcazar. In the afternoons, a cultural course led by Crawford will introduce them to the history, art and culture of Spain, with an emphasis on Andalusia.
Students will stay with a Spanish host family, travel to Cordoba to see the world-famous mosque with its stunning double arches, see the Roman ruins at Italica and take optional side trips to Cadiz and other parts of Spain or Portugal.
The cost of the program is $6,800, which includes six credits, housing, three meals per day, visits to local museums and points of interest and airport transfers.
The deadline to submit an application to the Office of International Programs is Friday, Feb. 26. For more information, stop by Thursday’s information session or contact Crawford at crawforl@salve.edu or (401) 341-3146.
