Terio heads list of 11 New England Football Conference honorees

The football team captured three major awards and had 11 players named to the New England Football Conference (NEFC) all-Boyd Division team. Phil Terio ’15 highlighted the selections, earning all-Boyd Division first team honors, while also being named the Boyd Division defensive player of the year and return specialist of the year.

Adam Iskra ’13 also won a major award for the Seahawks, being selected as the NEFC Boyd Division offensive lineman of the year while also earning all-Boyd Division first team honors.

Anthony Hannon ’13, Daniel Kehew ’13, Floyd Shaffer ’14 and Maxwell Shubert ’13 each were named to the all-Boyd Division first team, while Dakota Cowell ’13, Connor Kelly ’13, William Regan ’13, Hayden Stanton ’16 and Steven Wilken ’15 each were named to the second team.

Terio set an NCAA Division III record with four interceptions returned for a touchdown this season, while also tying the Division III mark with six total returns for a touchdown. He finished the regular season tied for the NEFC lead with seven interceptions, while also leading the conference in both kick return average and punt return average.

Iskra combined with Cowell, Kehew and Shaffer to form perhaps the best offensive line in the conference. The Seahawks ran for more than 100 yards in every game except for their season opener. The team topped 150 yards on the ground in seven of their 10 games while eclipsing the 200-yard mark four times.

Hannon led the Seahawks in tackles, solo tackles and assisted tackles during the regular season, while also ranking second on the club in both tackles for a loss and sacks. Shubert finished the season with 40 tackles, five interceptions, six pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick.

Kelly played on both sides of the ball for the Seahawks this season, excelling at both fullback and linebacker. In the backfield, he rushed for 370 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.0 yards per carry. In just six games at linebacker, he recorded 30 tackles and a team-high 4.5 sacks.

Regan and Stanton combined to create a formidable defensive line for Salve Regina. Regan notched 31 tackles while ranking second on the team with 8.5 tackles for a loss. Stanton recorded 39 tackles while placing second on the team with 4.0 sacks on the season, while also adding a team-high two forced fumbles and a pair of blocked kicks.

Wilken ranked second in the division with a passer rating of 138.0, throwing for 1981 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air. He also led the Seahawks with 386 yards rushing this season, scoring four touchdowns on the ground.
