Two Seahawks earn conference honors
Congratulations to baseball player Stephen Cirella ’20 and women’s lacrosse player Maddie Villareal ’20, who recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Baseball: Stephen Cirella ’20
Cirella was named rookie of the week after helping Salve Regina 5-1 week in Florida during spring break. He had multi-hit games in three of the contests, driving in six and scoring two runs. Cirella leads the Seahawks in batting average at .407 through the first nine games.
Salve Regina (7-2) will travel to the University of Massachusetts Boston on Thursday, March 23 before entertaining Western New England University this weekend in the first conference games of the season.
Women’s lacrosse: Maddie Villareal ’20
Villareal was named offensive player of the week and rookie of the week after scoring a total of 11 goals to help the Seahawks go 2-0 in South Carolina during spring break. Villareal also tallied two assists in each game, earning a total of 15 points for the week.
The Seahawks return to the field Saturday, March 21 when they host Wentworth Institute of Technology at noon in their first conference game of the season.
