Three student-athletes earn conference honors
Congratulations to baseball players Patrick Maybach ’20 and John Militano ’18 and women’s lacrosse player Maddie Villareal ’20, who recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Baseball
Maybach was named rookie of the week after earning a win and a save on the mound last week. He closed out Salve Regina’s 4-1 win against Amherst College with two innings of scoreless work before making the start against Eastern Nazarene University, throwing six scoreless innings and striking out seven.
Militano was named player of the week after having multi-hit games in seven of his team’s eight contests last week. He had five doubles, six runs scored and nine RBI. Militano also swiped four bases and only struck out once in 34 at-bats.
The Seahawk sweep of Wentworth Institute of Technology last Sunday gave Salve Regina (27-5, 12-0 CCC) the regular-season conference title. The Seahawks play Rhode Island College at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26.
Women’s lacrosse
Villareal was named rookie of the week after netting nine goals last week, with six of them coming in a single game against Nichols College. She also tallied four assists, grabbed four ground balls and caused three turnovers. Villareal, who leads the Seahawks in scoring, currently sits in fourth place in the conference in goals scored.
Salve Regina (8-6, 4-3 CCC) wraps up the regular season Tuesday, April 25 on the road against Western New England University.
