Brigandi, Ernst named DIII All-New England
Jacob Brigandi ’13 and Bobby Ernst ’13 have been named to the 2012 NCAA Division III men’s soccer All-New England Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Ernst was selected as a first team midfielder while Brigandi earned a spot as a midfielder on the second team.
“I’m thrilled for both Bobby and Jake to be recognized in this manner by the NSCAA – being named All-New England is a very fitting end to their careers here in Newport,” said head coach Craig O’Rourke II. “I don’t know if there are any words that can properly convey just how instrumental the two of them were in our success this year.”
Ernst tied for the team lead in both points (15) and goals (six) while also providing a boost at the defensive end. In addition to his All-New England selection, Ernst was also named to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) first team while earning CCC defensive player of the week, CCC offensive player of the week, Eastern College Athletic Conference offensive player of the week, and CIAO Classic Defensive MVP honors this season.
Brigandi led the Seahawks with eight assists this season, while also finishing second on the club with three game-winning goals, and tying for third on the team with 14 points. As a result, he was selected as a member of the All-CCC second team.
