Seahawks continue to climb in national polls
The men’s ice hockey team has been ranked sixth in the nation by D3Hockey.com and U.S. College Hockey Online in the latest polls. Salve Regina has gone 7-1 this year versus other ranked teams.
“I am extremely proud of the team,” said head coach Zech Klann. “It has been our intention from day one to determine our outcome every night. The culture we are building here is that you are playing for something bigger than yourself; you are playing for the man next to you and Salve Regina University. When a team buys into such a philosophy, all of the little things fall into place on and off the ice, which builds confidence and a unified team.”
“It’s been great for the team and the school to get some national recognition, but we as a group try not to let that distract us from our goals,” said captain Pat Thompson ’18. “We are where we are because we’ve trusted the process as a family, which is key for us. The final stretch only gets harder too, every team will give us their best. I have confidence in the guys though, we have the opportunity to do something really special this year as a unit.”
The Seahawks (17-4-2, 12-2-2 CCC) have won four in a row and 11 of their last 12, and will wrap up the regular season with a weekend series against Nichols College.
