Interactive program to explore health and racial equity
Members of the University community and the general public are invited to an interactive training program designed to establish a foundational understanding of how race-based structural inequities impact health outcomes.
“Measuring Racial Equity: A Groundwater Approach” will be held from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 in the Bazarsky Lecture Hall. To RSVP, visit the program’s Eventbrite page.
Featuring expert trainers from the Racial Equity Institute, the program will provide public health professionals and partners with a basic understanding of how racism is structural in nature and what that means for our work and the health of the communities we serve.
The program is recommended for individuals who are interested in advancing health and racial equity, including public health department staff, community partners, health care providers, academic institutions and local government leaders. It is co-sponsored by the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Newport Health Equity Zone and Salve Regina’s Center for Student Development and Office of Multicultural Programs and Retention.
