Sports award ceremony honors University’s student-athletes

Hundreds of athletes from Salve Regina’s 20 varsity teams celebrated their team and individual accomplishments during the annual Seahawk Sports Award ceremony May 4.
The first-ever McAuley Cup went to the team that has “excelled above others in all areas including community, classroom and in athletics” – men’s ice hockey, which became the first Seahawk team to reach a championship final in the NCAA postseason.
Individual award winners included:
- Female athlete of the year: Amber Cody (field hockey)
- Male athlete of the year: Blake Wojtala (men’s ice hockey)
- Outstanding faculty member: Dr. Michael Brady
- Seahawks in Service: Zan Carver, Kevin Clare, Ally Esielionis, Victoria Johnson, Jonathan Lynch, Peter McNamara, Taylor Parry and Grayce Rogers
- Sister Philemon Banigan Award: Taylor Parry
- Seahawk Spirit Award: Samantha Salwa
- Distinguished Senior Scholar Athlete (Dr. Christopher Kiernan Award): Katie Kline and Kevin Brocks
- Seahawk Stewardship Award: Ed Habershaw
- Habershaw Stewardship Award: Kristen Hickey and Jonathan Lynch
- Class of 2021 Award: Hannah Grey and Anthony Cieszko
- Class of 2020 Award: Annie Donahue, Maddie Villareal and Jack Billings
- Class of 2019 Award: Amanda Riley, Jordan Elster and Zack Smith
- Class of 2018 Award: Courtney Bouchard, James Dawson and Pat Thompson
