Football, women’s tennis players earn conference honors
Several members of the football and women’s tennis teams recently earned weekly honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Football
Jake Kelleher ’21 was named offensive player of the week after leading the Seahawks offense to a 27-21 come-from-behind victory against Worcester State University, contributing three touchdowns through the air. He threw for 175 yards, while rushing for 73 more.
Matt Sylvia ’21 was named defensive player of the week after a solid performance in the backfield against Worcester State. He made four tackles (three solo, one assisted), picked off two passes and broke up another in the victory.
The Seahawks (1-0) will hit the road again this weekend when they travel to face Montclair State University on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Women’s tennis
Lauren Harvey ’22 was named player of the week and Makenzie Sadler ’22 was named rookie of the week. The first-year duo kicked off their Salve careers with an 8-1 doubles victory at the University of Saint Joseph. Harvey then won in straight sets at first singles, while Sadler battled through a first-set tiebreak at second singles before cruising in the second set.
The Seahawks (1-0) return to the hard courts Monday, Sept. 10 at Rhode Island College.
