Men’s, women’s soccer players earn all-conference honors
Several members of the men’s and women’s soccer teams recently earned year-end awards and all-conference honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Men’s soccer
Donald Igo ’20 was named offensive player of the year and first team all-conference. He ranks second in the conference in goals (14) and assists (10), and leads the conference in points (38). Igo’s 2.24 points per game rank him 20th in NCAA Division III, while his point total is the 13th highest in the division.
Jordan Elster ’19 was named senior scholar athlete and first team all-conference. A business administration major, he was named to the CCC academic all-conference team three times and has also been recognized by United Soccer Coaches as a scholar all-American (second team). Elster is a McAuley Scholarship recipient, a Pell Scholar and has made the dean’s list every semester.
Craig O’Rourke II was named coach of the year after leading the Seahawks to a 6-0-2 conference record (15-0-3 overall) and a share of the regular season championship. His team leads the conference in a number of categories, including goals scored (59) and shutouts (10).
Joining Igo and Elster on the all-conference teams were Evan MacDonald ’20 (first team), Matthew O’Donnell ’19 (first team), Michael Payan ’19 (first team), Owen Stevenson ’21 (second team) and Casey Kelly ’21 (third team).
Women’s soccer
Abby McMackin ’19 was named to the first team. She ranks second in the conference in goals (14) and points (32), and her 38 career goals rank third in school history. McMackin is one of only five Seahawks to have 30-plus goals in a career.
Kayla McLaughlin ’20 was named to the third team. She coordinated a Seahawk defense during a seven-win regular season that included two shutouts. McLaughlin earned her first appearance on an all-conference squad.
Jamie Robert ’21 was named to the third team. She earned rookie of the week honors twice this season, and two of her six goals were game-winners – Sept. 8 against Rhode Island College and Sept. 29 against Western New England University.
