Wilcox named senior scholar athlete of the year
Right side hitter Kendall Wilcox ’19 has been named senior scholar athlete for women’s volleyball by the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Joining Wilcox on the all-conference teams are middle blocker Annie Donahue ’20, outside hitter Nicole Karabaich ’22, setter Erin Proctor ’19 and outside hitter Cassidy Trabilcy ’19.
An administration of justice major, Wilcox has a 3.93 GPA and will be applying to law school following graduation. She has completed internships at the Robert B. Mann Law Office and Public Services of Newport and is an active volunteer with organizations such as the Potter League, Saint Andrew Lutheran Church and the Salvation Army. Wilcox is also a member of the Nuala Pell Leadership Program and the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
“Kendall works very hard to stay at the top of her class and does a great job of balancing academics, volleyball and life,” said head coach Lauren Parsons. “I am very proud of her and very happy she received this great award.”
Donahue ranked fourth in the conference for blocks (48) and was second on the team in kills (231), while Karabaich had the fourth most kills on the team (180) and fourth most digs (229). Proctor ranks fourth in the conference in assists (719) and service aces (47), and Trabilcy was third on the team in kills (225) and digs (238).
“I’m so proud of all the girls that were recognized by the conference,” Parsons said. “They have great teammates around them to help them excel in their positions and I couldn’t be more proud of everyone’s hard work this year.”
The Seahawks earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament and travel to face No. 2 seed Wentworth Institute of Technology at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 in the semifinals.
