Seahawks place four on D3football All-Region Team
Adam Iskra ’13, Floyd Shafer ’14, Maxwell Shubert ’13 and Phil Terio ’15 have been named to the 2012 D3football.com All-East Region Team.
Terio received a pair of honors, earning a spot on the first team defense as a cornerback, while also being selected to the second team offense as a returner. Shafer and Iskra both earned spots on the second team offense at center and tackle, respectively, while Shubert garnered the safety position on the third team defense.
Terio enjoyed a historic campaign for the Seahawks in 2012, tying the NCAA Division III records for interceptions returned for touchdowns (four) and total touchdown returns (six) in a single season. His seven interceptions on the year rank second all-time at Salve Regina. In addition to his D3football.com All-East honors, Terio was also selected to the 2012 Division II-III All-New England Team, and was the NEFC Boyd Division defensive player and return specialist of the year while also earning All-Boyd Division first team honors.
Iskra and Shaffer combined to anchor an offensive line that helped the Seahawks run for more than 100 yards in every game except for their season-opener. The team topped 150 yards on the ground in seven of their 10 games while eclipsing the 200-yard mark four times. Iskra was named the NEFC Boyd Division offensive lineman of the year, and joined Shafer as a member of the All-Boyd Division first team.
An athletic playmaker on defense, Shubert was perhaps the top safety in the NEFC Boyd Division this season. He finished the year with 40 tackles, five interceptions, six pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick. As a result, the versatile free safety earned a spot on the NEFC All-Boyd Division first team.
