Multicultural celebration showcasing cultural identities
A multicultural celebration, originally scheduled for the Friday of Multicultural Education Week, will now be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in Ochre Court. The evening will feature community members showcasing their cultural identities through cultural talent, fashion shows and ethnic food from around the world.
Food and cultural tables – 8-9 p.m.
Featuring information tables and foods from Cambodia, Columbia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Poland and Rwanda.
Multicultural performances – 9-10:30 p.m.
Featuring demonstrations of Cambodian dance, capoeira, African dance, Irish step, belly dancing and Haitian dance from Salve Regina students and other dance groups.
Multicultural fashion show – 10:30-11:30 p.m.
Featuring outfits from Cape Verde, China, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Kenya, Mali, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Poland, Rwanda, Senegal, Southern Africa, Tanzania and West Africa.
Raffle – 11:30 p.m.
Students who attended all four Multicultural Education Week events should bring their tickets to complete the globe and have the chance to win an iPad or Kindle.
